Daily Deck is a daily AI learning PWA for curious non-technical adults. Every morning it generates seven cards via live web search: a definition, a core concept, an advanced concept, what's happening this week, a tool spotlight, and two news stories, all in plain English.

Why I built it
Daily Deck is built for curious non-technical adults who want to stay current on AI without wading through jargon or a firehose of takes. The format is deliberately small: seven cards, five minutes, plain English, generated fresh each morning with live web search rather than a static explainer that ages the day it's published.

What it does
Every day's deck is seven cards.
- Definition: a term you've heard but might not fully grok.
- Core concept: a foundational, from-zero explanation.
- Advanced concept: the next layer up.
- Bleeding edge: what's happening this week.
- Tool spotlight: something genuinely trending, deliberately not ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.
- AI news: a top story and a second story.
- Streak tracking, topic personalization, a daily email digest, an archive, a quiz and review mode, and bookmarks. Installable as a PWA on iOS, Android and desktop.
Stack and architecture
Vite and React on the frontend with vite-plugin-pwa, Node and Express with SQLite (better-sqlite3) on the server. Magic-link auth via Resend, no passwords. Cards come from Google Gemini 2.5 Flash or Claude Haiku 4.5 via OpenRouter, both with live web search. Billing runs on Stripe Checkout and the Customer Portal, and a systemd timer generates the deck each morning.
Status
Live at dailydeckai.com since May 2026. Every new account gets a 30-day free trial with the full app; after that, generating a deck needs a Premium subscription at $4.99/month or $39/year.
